KES MAATHUIS

Artist, Producer, Songwriter and Engineer.

About ME

“Kes, more commonly known under his artist alias “No ($) Savant”, is an Artist, Producer, Songwriter and Engineer located in Enschede, the Netherlands. He currently studies Songwriting & Production at the ArtEZ Conservatory.

As an Artist, his mission is to be an advocate for mental health and remaining true to yourself, staying authentic in a world where everybody is often trying to fit in with a group. His introspective mind causes him to spend a lot of time in his head, which results in a lot of thoughts. Sometimes very positive and ambitious, other times a little more dark and pessimistic. A lot of his work is focused on unpacking these thoughts and sharing them with the world, so we can all give them a little place in our hearts and hopefully find some more inner peace together. “

  • “DON’T TURN ME INTO A PESSIMIST”

    IT’S OUT!!!

My new single “Don’t Turn Me Into a Pessimist” dropped last friday.

As is custom, I’d like to take some time to make a little post on here about the song, and why I wrote it.

“Please Don’t Turn Me Into A Pessimist” was a thought that I had while the world around me was looking pretty grim. There was drama in my life, a lot of friendships seemed lost. all during a time in which I was trying to do better in terms of my mental health. I was making an effort to be a more social & warm person, but I felt like it wasn’t being rewarded by my environment.

The song is a reminder to myself to keep looking up, to be a good person and to do this without expecting a reward or a transaction in return.

There were some words by the artist Bas that really stuck with me:

“Cause momma told me, Treat ’em to the light of my soul, the light of my soul. And don’t expect nothin’ back, the light of my soul”

To everybody who needs the same reminder I did, or to anybody looking for some comforting words in dark times.

“Don’t Turn Me Into a Pessimist”

    Yours truly,

    Kes
